Is Nicolas Cage undead and loving it?

Addressing one of the more bizarre rumors about his personal life, the actor says he's almost certain he's not a time-traveling vampire whose image was said to have been captured in a Civil War-era photo of a man resembling Cage.

"I don't drink blood, and last time I looked in the mirror I had a reflection," Cage told David Letterman on Thursday night's Late Show.

Promoting his film Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengance, Cage does acknowledge he could be confused with the Tennessee man in the 1870 photo that an eBay seller had pitched as a "walking undead/vampire" who "reinvents himself once every 75 years."

"Let me say that there is a resemblance," says Cage, "but how can I be polite about this. It's a somewhat slowed-down version of me."

British-born actress Naomi Watts is to portray Princess Diana in a new film believed to explore her relationship with the heart surgeon Hasnat Khan.

The pair had a discreet romantic affair that began in 1995 and ended a few months before her death in August 1997.

Directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, Caught in Flight is described as "a compelling portrait of Diana, Princess of Wales during the last two years of her life".

Watts, 43, said it was "such an honour to be able to play this iconic role".

"Princess Diana was loved across the world, and I look forward to rising to the challenge of playing her on screen," she continued.

Hirschbiegel, who previously dramatised Hitler's final days in 2004 film Downfall, described Watts as "a truly exceptional actress who embodies the warmth, humanity and empathy of such a global icon".

Earlier reports had linked US actress Jessica Chastain to her part in the film, to be based on a screenplay by British playwright Stephen Jeffreys.

Watts, whose films include the remakes of King Kong, The Ring and Funny Games, received an Oscar nomination for her work in 21 Grams and was recently seen alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in J Edgar.

Produced by Ecosse Films, whose previous features include John Lennon biopic Nowhere Boy, the movie will begin shooting in the UK later this year.

Sylvester Stallone was living in utter poverty when he saw an unknown boxer last nearly 15 rounds with Muhammad Ali. The idea for Rocky was born. Stallone wrote the script in just three days and the rest, as they say, is Hollywood history as the movie became one of the most successful of all time and made Stallone an international superstar.

Kevin Williamson and a friend were reminiscing one night about popular 1980s horror movies. The conversation spawned the idea for what would become the opening scene in Scream with a stalker quizzing his victims on horror movies of the past. Williamson wrote Scream in just four days. The script created a hot bidding war and made Williamson one of the highest-paid screenwriters in Hollywood.

And then there’s Joe Eszterhas. He came up with the idea of a beautiful crime novelist becoming the suspect in the case of her boyfriend’s murder. Eszterhas sat down, with no clue how the story would end, and wrote Basic Instinct in just 10 days. When he was finished, he shipped the script to his agent and sold it three days later for $3 million. That means Eszterhas went from having a simple idea to having $3 million in the bank in just 13 days!

Watched « The lady from Shangai » yesterday, starring Rita Hayworth and Orson Welles. Loved it! Very beautiful femme fatale film noir!
I recommend it to all those who are fed up with soul less movies released by the studios at the moment. I know it's very ambitious but I Hope to bring back a soul in the film industry soon.

LUCAS TO RETIRE FROM BLOCKBUSTERS, MAKE “PERSONAL” FILMS

Apparently disgusted with his treatment by Hollywood studios when he approached them to finance Red Tails, his film about World War II’s famed Tuskegee Airmen featuring an all-black cast, George Lucas has told the New York Times that he will no longer make films for Hollywood (with the possible exception of another Indiana Jones movie). He is, he said, “retiring, in a way, from my past.” Instead, the Times reported, Lucas plans to devote the rest of his life to making small personal films for art-house audiences like the ones he was experimenting with when he was a student at USC. However, the Times observed, “Before he takes his digital camera with him into obscurity … he wants to prove that with Red Tails, he can still make the kind of movie everyone in the world will want to see.” He has a lot riding on that movie, which opens on Friday — $54 million of his own money, he says, which he put up after executives at every major studio rejected it. One studio’s executives didn’t even show up for a screening, Lucas said. “Isn’t this their job? … Isn’t their job at least to see movies? It’s not like some Sundance [Film Festival] kid coming in there and saying, ‘I’ve got this little movie — would you see it?’”

A few days ago, during my Christmas break I was very surprised to receive emails from my readers. They told me how much they cried reading my short stories and I was really surprised, because they were mentioning my eBook "head in the clouds" published a few years ago, which I had completely forgotten. Actually I had decided to stop the publication because I wasn't satisfied with this edition.
So with all these lovely emails of support, I have decided to give my short fiction another chance and to get them published another time, still don't know if they will be self published or through a professional publisher. We'll see, I have both French and English written short fiction available and regarding my English short fiction I would love a New York publisher, because N.Y is my favorite place in the world.
So we'll see...

For those who send me their concern emails, don't worry, i'm still alive, I know I haven't been much present in recent days on facebook, twitter etc...But it's just because i'm very busy pitching my projects and working hard on getting THE ADVENTURER" my Merian Cooper's biopic made, since I have a well known actor (he won an oscar) who is interested in being involved with the project once it is funded and find a home.

I have had very good connections this week( including people who have worked on Tim Burton's Alice in wonderland and some others who worked with Martin Scorsese) and I'm currently shopping the screenplay around, a lot of people sound very interested in it, and I have good hope it will find the right producers very soon.
Additionally, I'm also shopping my other many screenplays around to production companies, and revising some of my short stories, and a novel to get them published.

I first discovered Dario Argento's work when watching Television, a channel was airing horror movies I was a teenager and I first stumbled on "Inferno", one of his most terrifying films, I discovered the bird with he crystal plumage a few days later, and I believe it is my favorite Argento's films, very Hitchcockian, for those who know my work, I believe "the bird"...has unconsciously influenced my writing on my thriller "Mystification".

Needless to say, all people who know me and my work, know I've been wanting to work in the film busines since the very first time I saw King Kong on television, I was 6 years old and it was Jessica Lange's version. I saw Merian Cooper's classic a little later, and then Peter Jackson's one in 2005. And, I love them all. A few years later, I wrote "THE ADVENTURER" my Merian Cooper's biopic screenplay that I'm currently pitching and hope to see on the screen soon.

Before her death by drowning in 1981, Natalie Wood eerily spoke of her fear of the water and her relationship with husband Robert Wagner.

And E! News has exclusively obtained audio and video footage from famed Hollywood columnist Shirley Eder, a close friend of Wood and Wagner, who interviewed the couple in 1977 at their home, and then sat down with Wood again in 1979. Eder died in 2005.

With Wood's daughter, Natasha Gregson, playing piano in the background, the three-time Oscar nominee and Wagner opened up about love the second time around.

"I'm sure glad it all worked out," Wagner said, smiling. He and Wood were first married from 1957 to 1962, and then again from 1972 until her death on Nov. 28, 1981. They had one daughter together, Courtney, during their second union.

When Eder asked if they still fought about the same things as they had 20 years earlier, Wood said, "No, we really don't argue very much."

"I guess we do [belong together]," Wood agreed with Eder. "Yeah, I think we do."

L.A. County Sheriff's Department homicide detectives are reexamining the Wood case based on new information they recently received. Authorities say that neither Wagner nor Christopher Walken, who was on the boat with the couple the night Wood died, are suspects.

Dennis Davern, who captained the boat for the Wagners, told Today last week that he holds Wagner responsible for what happened and that, as he and Marti Rulli wrote in their 2010 book Goodbye Natalie, Goodbye Splendour, he heard the couple arguing loudly shortly before Wood disappeared.

It was Wagner, Wood said, who took care of all the navigating on their 60-foot yacht, Splendour.

"It sleeps about 10," she noted. "That's a big boat!"

But apparently sailing wasn't exactly Wood's favorite pastime—in fact, she admitted to having a horrible experience on a film set in 1952 that obviously stuck with her for years.

"I had a mean director one time who threw me in the ocean," Wood revealed. "I don't want to say [who it is]."

But we can infer.

"I was terrified," Wood continued. "I was petrified, because we were in the open ocean. It was a picture with Bette Davis, as a matter of fact, and when she found out, she refused to work until they got a double for me because she knew that I was petrified."

Wood played Davis' daughter in 1952's The Star, directed by Stuart Heisler.

At an AFI tribute in her honor in 1977, Wood again recalled Davis sticking up for her 25 years beforehand, threatening to leave the film unless Heisler brought in a double for the scene in which Wood's character was supposed to jump into the ocean and swim to a raft.

"This was the only time I saw the famous Bette Davis temperament surface," Wood recalled, "and it was not in her own behalf."

En plus de promouvoir mes nombreux scénarii Américains, je me consacre également à la promo de mon scénario de thriller français L'ASSISTANT, l'histoire d'une écrivain et de son assistant diabolique dont elle s'inspire malgré le danger.

C'est un scénario Hitchcockien et palpitant, dont la plupart des lecteurs, selon leurs dires, ne peuvent se défaire sans avoir vu le mot "Fin".

Je contacte actuellement plusieurs réalisateurs pour mettre ce projet en route, car j'ai beaucoup de bons contacts avec de grands acteurs du cinéma Français qui sont intéressés par ce scénario, beaucoup sont entré en contact directement avec moi et je n'ai pas été déçue par la courtoisie et le professionnalisme de ces artistes, je pense que quelque chose de bien en découlera, d'autant que le cinéma français manque de bons thrillers. Non?

Quand aux réalisateurs, je n'ai toujours pas trouvé ma perle rare. La réalisatrice Charlotte Brandstrom a adoré le scénario mais elle est occupée sur un projet jusqu'en 2013, il s'agit encore d'un de ces nombreux "conflits d'emploi du temps" que l'on connait tous dans ce milieux.

Un autre jeune réalisateur a été contacté, mais quand à lui, il s'agit d'un cas un peu particulier, puisque c'est une affaire plus personnelle, et étrange, la petite amie de celui-ci, ne veut pas qu'il travaille avec une jeune femme scénariste...C'est une carrière au monastère qui attend le pauvre garçon. Assez hilarant non?

Bref, n'étant pas psychiatre, même si pour mon travail sur "Mystification", j'ai pas mal étudié la psychologie je préfère aller vers de vrais professionnels, hier, un producteur français vivant aux Etats Unis m'a demandé le scénario à son tour, très intéressé par le projet. La promo continue, celle qui me permets de croiser des artistes intéressants mais aussi des fous par millier! Inquiétant et palpitant comme une chasse au trésor.

When anyone with access to MONEY wants to option your script, YES, you should expect money HOWEVER...

There's a huge scam going on in Smell-A right now that you need to be aware of...

A producer comes in and options your work... Let's say the option is for $5K a year for 2 or 3 years... You get your first year's payment and you're a happy camper because a fairly well-known producer is shopping your script around...

Unbeknownst to you, the producer sells your screenplay to a prodco for $250K... The deal THEY have is to buy the script outright but if NO FILM is made within a specified timeframe, all rights revert back to YOU, the screenwriter.

By the time that happens, your script has been passed around and it's agreed on that it's not that bad but still needs some polish but the prodco doesn't have enough time to make that happen... Hence, the script and all rights are now yours but since the producer you sold the option to has already made $250K, nobody wants to pay you any more money at this juncture...

This is happening all the time in Hollywood...

Now on the other hand, if the prodco gets off their asses and makes the script into a movie, you'll still get paid... A lot hinges on the deal the original producer makes with the prodco.

Having said that...

Unless you know contracts (and even if you do), be sure to have an entertainment lawyer take a look at the option agreement BEFORE signing...

Now back to this actress... Does she have a prodco of her own? If so, that means she has access to money. Make damn sure your screenplay and all subsequent drafts are registered by the WGAw and you've filed for a copyright as well.

Options can be for as little as a $1 all the way up to $100K (or more) if you're a produced screenwriter with the norm running around $5K to $25K a year with a 2 year minimum... I personally wouldn't give any producer more than 2 years to shop that script around... All they will be doing is going to all the studios in town and pitching the script, hoping to get financing. If someone packages your actress and gets several other pieces of talent and crew on board (simply for the packaging) they just might pull off a studio deal.

Just be very wary of signing a contract/option without an entertainment lawyer looking it over for you.

I have written the first draft of this script a few years ago. It's a very beautiful tribute to the wolf, animals lovers like me will love it, and it’s an anti-hunting script, hunting being something I deeply disapprove.

Diagnosing Anakin Skywalker

A group of French researchers have proposed that Anakin Skywalker had Borderline Personality Disorder. This article looks at why, along with the evidence for and against such a diagnosis.
What is Borderline Personality Disorder?

Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is essentially an inability to modulate (manage) emotion, which means all emotions come out far more intensely than the average person's — especially the negative ones. Because most of them were raised in unhealthy, abusive situations, people with BPD don't tend to have healthy coping mechanisms, and that means they experience a lot of difficult emotions. Rage and depression are two of their most common emotional states. The internal chaos is so overwhelming that many self-injure (cut, burn, or otherwise deliberately harm themselves) in an attempt to get the inside pain out into a physical form.

Splitting

If the first hallmark of BPD is self-injury, the second is "splitting." When children are little, they go through a stage where the "good" Mommy (or "good" Daddy) they love and the "bad" Mommy (Daddy) they get angry with feel like two different people. Most people eventually integrate the two and come to understand that you can love and hate someone at the same time. People with BPD continue to split into adulthood, which means they categorize other people into those who belong on pedestals and those they hate. And they can shift people from one category to the other very quickly.

People with BPD are often frantic to have someone else there to deal with all that emotional overload for them, which can be exhausting for the other person. They will do anything to hold onto the person — scream, cry, beg, threaten to kill themselves (or make an attempt), or use other manipulative methods.

Controversy

BPD is a controversial diagnosis, though. Feminist therapists and institutions tend to feel very strongly about not diagnosing anyone with BPD. They believe the symptoms are actually indicative of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and that referring to someone as "borderline" is stigmatizing them rather than addressing the problem. (Especially because some therapists don't want to work with BPD — it's arguably the hardest thing to deal with because BPD clients need so much.)

Anakin's Symptoms

So what about the Anakin we meet in Star Wars episodes I, II, and III?

The diagnosis works, at least for those episodes, if you spin it right.

Anakin has particularly strong negative reactions to a variety of events, which could arguably be due to an inability to deal with the unpleasant feelings they cause. He certainly has trouble taking Obi-Wan's criticism, and his ourburst in the Tuskan camp after watching his mother die is extreme: he goes berserk and kills everyone. Then when he sees Padme he breaks down, saying, "I killed them... I killed them all…even the women and the children…"

Padme tends to regulate emotion for him, and as a result he has her on a pedestal…until the end of episode III, when she confronts his movement toward the Dark Side. In an instant he goes from loving her to trying to choke her to death.

The Researchers' Criteria

The researchers provide examples for the diagnostic criteria they feel fits Anakin’s behavior (in bold below).
Criterion 1: Frantic efforts to avoid real or imagined abandonment

His fear of losing his mother is the basis of all his actions. His efforts to save his wife at all costs, in absence of real threat, end with him turning to the dark side.

Why is losing his mother the basis for everything?

And since Padme’s life is actually in danger at several points during the films, the authors seem to be pathologizing more or less normal behavior.

A better example would be Anakin’s repeated insistence that he wants to become so powerful he'll be able to keep people from dying because he can't tolerate losing them.
Criterion 2: a pattern of unstable and intense interpersonal relationships characterized by alternating between extremes of idealization and devaluation

His relationships with his masters Jedis, in particular Obi-wan, swings from love to hatred.

This makes sense; going from adoring Padme to being willing to kill her so quickly also fits this category.
diagnostic criteria for borderline & narcissistic personality disorders
Criterion 3: Transient, stress-related paranoid ideation or severe dissociative symptoms

He experiences a major dissociative episode after his mother's death and when his wife abandons him.

There is no evidence of dissociation, which is a split in consciousness that leaves one feeling disconnected from oneself or one’s environment. In more extreme circumstances, people will have amnesia for their behaviors.

But Anakin knows exactly what he did in the Tuskan camp. He justifies his behavior with "I hate them…they're animals, so I slaughtered them like animals." At the end he says, "I'm a Jedi, I'm better than that," which you could argue was the part of him that didn't want to do it and was stuck watching the rest of him act, but that was added to the DVD release to try to soften what he did. It wasn't in the version that showed in theaters. (Yes, I'm a geek.)

Criterion 4: Impulsivity in at least two areas that are potentially self-damaging

Pod racing from an early age, he often takes unnecessary risks in battles by acting on impulse.

Children have no real concept of danger or death at the age when Anakin goes pod racing. Anakin does do a lot of other impulsive things, though, long after he knows better.

A good example is jumping out of a "car," which is hovering hundreds of stories above the ground, to catch Padme's would-be assassin in another "car" below. He gets in trouble with Obi-Wan constantly because he does things without thinking (or thinks and just doesn't like what he's supposed to do instead). And he does go running into fights without much thought.

Criterion 5: Inappropriate, intense anger or difficulty controlling anger His mother's death induces uncontrollable anger in him.

His lack of self-control leads him to argue frequently with the members of the council.

How much of this is just immaturity on Anakin’s part? Should it really be diagnosed?
Criterion 6: identity disturbance: markedly and persistently unstable self-image or sense of self

Before turning into Darth Vader he is very unsure of who he was, and what he wanted.

All teens go through normal identity confusion, figuring out who and what they want to be, but Anakin does know one thing: he wants to be extremely powerful and do whatever he wants.

Is That Good Enough Evidence?

To carry the diagnosis through episodes IV, V, and VI, you have to find an explanation for Vader's calm control.

One might be that someone with BPD can often regulate emotions better if he has a strong outside system to keep him from exploding. For example, some people with the diagnosis do well in the military because there's so much structure and no tolerance for emotional outbursts. The structure regulates them. Likewise, when someone starts behaving inappropriately in a therapist's office, sometimes the best thing to do is take the tough love approach and tell them to cut it out, put their backside in the chair, and do therapy.

But there are still problems, most notably the fact that there is a better diagnosis, and that’s Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

Grandiosity, a focus on power, a desire to be admired and even worshipped, and a strong belief that he shouldn’t have to play by the rules are all characteristic of both Anakin and Darth Vader. He meets all of the criteria for Narcissistic Personality Disorder, and he meets them without any real need for explanation.

So did Anakin Skywalker have Borderline Personality Disorder?

Probably not, but he sure nailed the Narcissistic Personality Disorder diagnosis.

Now, as for what's wrong with George Lucas, compelled as he seems to be to keep mutilating the original Star Wars films... I don't have a diagnosis for him, but I sure wish someone would make him stop.

To inform my readers that I've finished the revisions on my very first screenplay "CARNIVAL". Written in 1999 (I was a teenager at this time) and never promoted before! The story of a serial killer terrifying Venice during the Carnival. It is 87 pages long...I've cut out several scenes, since we all know that all first time screenwriters tend to write unnecessary scenes, but the story was good...Now improved, it became a very good thriller in the vein of "the phantom of the opera" (for the masked killer) and "don't look now" (for the sets)

We have received the following message from Lars von Trier concerning an incident that occurred earlier today.

We present it to you without comment, but for more details surrounding von Trier's unceremonious fall from grace at this year's Cannes Film Festival, head this way.

"Today at 2pm I was questioned by the Police of North Zealand in connection with charges made by the prosecution of Grasse in France from August 2011 regarding a possible violation of prohibition in French law against justification of war crimes."

"The investigation covers comments made during the press conference in Cannes in May 2011. Due to these serious accusations I have realized that I do not possess the skills to express myself unequivocally and I have therefore decided from this day forth to refrain from all public statements and interviews."

Was outside with two friends yesterday when we saw this flying in the sky...Not sure about what it is...It was black, glistening golden in the sun...Since I can ‘t clearly determinate what it was exactly, I can say it was an unknown flying object...AN UFO...What do you think?

FOLLOWING UP WITH PRODUCERS

Spent my week-end following up with producers and studios I have submitted my screenplays to.

This is something I never did in the past, but I'm feeling more and more confident with my work, and I feel this is something audience would love to see on the screen, especially with all the bad movies and the remakes released nowadays.

It's always good to check with productions companies one week after submitting a script and see if they have receive your work, especially since we all know producers are lazy people, and need to be reminded they have receive something!

I’ve also received several OFFERS for potential books adaptations, including a science fiction saga, a horror book and a romantic comedy, not sure about what I’ll choose. If you are interested in hiring, please feel free to get in touch, as I’m still available at the moment and I haven’t picked up a new project yet, but don’t forget I DO NOT WORK FOR FREE…And get familiar with screenwriters fees! (see WGA website for this)

I’m also revising my first screenplay, written as I was studying screenwriting a few years ago, it’s titled CARNIVAL and tells the story of a serial killer haunting Venice’s streets during the carnival and confessing his crimes to a priest.
The set, the atmosphere remind me of the phantom of the opera and don’t look now.

It’s funny to look back and see my mistakes, being able to fix them and put my screenplay on the market soon, is reassuring too.

Je viens de télécharger "OU PAS" l'album de Monsieur Christophe Hondelatte.

Après un week-end très occupé par mon travail, j'avais envie de déstresser, et surtout de découvrir l'univers de cet artiste.

Je vous CONSEILLE FORTEMENT CET ALBUM qui est un véritable plaisir pour les oreilles, et le meilleur album Français que j'ai entendu depuis longtemps..Si loin de tous ces artistes établis, souvent ennuyeux dont on nous rebat les oreilles depuis des années.

L'album est rythmé, très classe et je me suis surprise à battre la mesure et à taper les mains durant les chansons. DE LA TRES BONNE MUSIQUE!

Donc allez y, n'hésitez pas à télécharger ce très, très bon album sur le site de Monsieur Hondelatte, puisqu' il a la générosité de faire découvrir son art gratuitement à son public:

Why all the characters in the soap opera "The young and the restless", seem totally unaware of contraception? Just wondering...Are the "authors" afraid to shock if their characters have sexual relations for pleasure? Would they feel guilty?
